This video was recorded by Papa GOMO just 20 minutes before the shooting incidence. 


The Malaysian humanitarian team was heading back to their hotels after completing the distribution of food aid to a refugee camp. The deceased Noramfaizul was travelling in the truck together with other reporters and journalist from the team.

Kami seisi keluarga dengan rasa dukacita sedih dan terharu, ingin mengucapkan takziah kepada Puan Norazlina serta semua ahli keluarga di atas pemergian Allahyarham Noramfaizul Mohd Nor pada 2hb September 2011.

Sesungguhnya pemergian beliau adalah di luar jangkaan kita insan yang kerdil dan lemah disisi Allah S.W.T dan yang beriman kepada Qada dan Qadar-Nya.

Namun demikian kami yakin Allah S.W.T. lebih menyayanginya dan berdoa semoga Allah mencucuri rahmat-Nya yang tidak terhingga serta menempatkan Allahyarham ke dalam golongan orang-orang yang beriman dan beramal soleh.

Semoga puan sentiasa tabah dan sabar dalam menghadapi dugaan Allah S.W.T.

Noramfaizul's remains arrive home

 

The remains of BernamaTV cameraman Noramfaizul Mohd Nor arrived at the Subang RMAF base Sunday. He will be buried at the Universiti Putra Malaysia Muslim cemetery in Serdang after Zohor prayers.

Prime Minister Najib Razak was among many who prayed over Noramfaizul's coffin, which was draped with the flags of Malaysia and Somalia in a mosque ceremony broadcast live on national television.

PETALING JAYA, 4 SEPTEMBER, 2011: Although saddened by the death of BernamaTV cameraman Noramfaizul Mohd Nor, journalists who covered the humanitarian mission in Somalia with him said they were ready for similar assignments in future.

Astro Awani journalist Tan Su Lin said he was prepared to cover events in war zones and other dangerous places in future.

"People say that your end is in God's hands. When it's time to go, you will go. But as a reporter if you are given the chance to cover the plight of people suffering, why not?" he said at the Royal Malaysian Air Force base in Subang on his return from Mogadishu.

Noramfaizul, 39, was killed by a stray bullet on Friday in Mogadishu.

Bernama cameraman Mahayudin Mohamad said the shooting incident was heartbreaking for him especially since he was asked by head of the medical team  Datuk Dr Alwi Rahman to photograph his dead colleague. "It is an experience I will never forget," he said.

NTV 7 journalist Melissa Ong said that what she saw in Somalia had inspired her to "live for a better life".  "Covering the mission in Somalia allowed me to see the pain and suffering caused by war. They are squatting for food and they are in a critical health condition. They really need help," she said.

The mission organised by the 1Malaysia Putera Club left for Mogadishu on Aug 28.
